“akar” means roots in Malay. We want to nurture artists to grow their roots through music and discover what it means to grow beyond them.
We are a part of AKAR CO., a collective based in Singapore that caters to individuals and companies seeking to discover and articulate their brand story. We specialise in talent development (AKAR) and creative content production (AKAR Studios).
Artist Management
As creative director, I support emerging artists in levelling up their craft and visibility through A&R and branding strategies. Artists I work with like Ezekiel Tok and aküma — have hit stages at Esplanade, landed features on Mothership, and performed for brands such as Montigo and Oatside.
I help them refine their identity, build momentum and get in front of the right audiences.
I manage full artist release cycles from PR and marketing to distribution, helping artists grow their reach and presence across platforms. My work includes strategising campaigns, securing features, and building momentum through playlists and media visibility.
Recently, I supported Ezekiel’s debut release, which landed on Spotify editorial playlists and has climbed past 22,000 streams and counting.
Events Management
I plan and produce events that bring artists, audiences and communities together. My work ranges from underground shows to multidisciplinary programmes, managing everything from creative direction and programming to artist coordination and on-ground operations.
I focus on creating experiences that feel intentional, engaging and rooted in the needs of the space and the people in it.
